Ray Allen to Cavs?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have made some big acquisitions this season in acquiring J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from the Knicks, along with Timofey Mozgov from Denver. Mozgov was procured due to the loss of Anderson Varejao for the season. Mozgov has been playing significant minutes since he arrived in Cleveland, as has J.R. Smith.
The Cavs have had success as of late with a 6 game winning streak, but will it last or is it just a little blip in the radar of the season? Personally, I think, in order to prolong this winning streak and continue it over into the post season, the Cavaliers need to extend an offer in the way of Ray Allen. While some may say Allen is old and washed up, you can’t deny he hits clutch shots. Adding him to the team would give the Cavs that extra boost in the locker room and on the court because of the professionalism that Allen brings. This is a perfect fit for Allen because he already knows and has won a championship with LeBron James, Mike Miller, and James Jones. If the Cavs want to take their game to the next level, signing Ray Allen would complete the pieces of the puzzle, and it would leave the Cavs and David Blatt to just put the pieces together.
