NBA MVP Front Runner
The NBA season has been filled with high scoring and high soaring players. One night James Harden scores 40+ in a game then Steph Curry comes right back and scores 45+. The Western conference is stacked with talent, and the MVP will more than likely come from the Western Conference. A couple top Western teams have MVP candidates in James Harden and Steph Curry. The East contender right now is LeBron James of my Cleveland Cavaliers.
James Harden of the Houston Rockets has 27.3 PPG (Points Per Game) this season. James Harden has had an amazing season with the second highest efficiency rating at 27.5. Harden has led this team to win after win because Houston has had some injuries to key players like Dwight Howard. However, the Rockets are still among the top teams in the Western Conference.
Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors has 23.6 PPG this season. Curry has a 23.6 efficiency rating thus far this season playing on the best team in basketball. Curry has stepped up this season to be this teams emotional and scoring leader. He has led this team to the best record in the league, and between Curry and Klay Thompson, Golden State is now the best shooting team in basketball.
LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers has scored 25.8 PPG this season. LeBron has the lowest efficiency rating of these 3 at a 24.9. LeBron James has stepped back this season somewhat to allow the younger guys to grow and learn not to rely on him. Cleveland is currently in the middle of the pack in the East sitting in the 4th spot, but right now they are definitely the team to beat in the Eastern Conference.
It will be tough to name an MVP from this group because all players are so valuable to their team in so manny different ways. Harden is the foundation of the teams offense. Curry is also the teams scoring leader and great defender, and LeBron is the Cavs heart and soul of the team’s leadership and offense. My MVP as of right now has to be Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors because of how he scores and leads his team. Curry also has the highest plus/minus ratings in the league at 608. The next closest player to Curry not on Golden State is Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks at 453. Curry’s defense is also a reason for his MVP nominations. Curry averages 2.2 steals a game which leads the NBA.
Who is your MVP as of right now?
