Hawks beat Cavs for 6th straight win
The Atlanta Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night 106-97 for their 6th straight win. Atlanta had LeBron James right where they wanted him from tip-off. DeMarre Carroll played outstanding defense against game, as did his Hawks teammates. The Hawks showed the way to defeat “The King”- get him frustrated. LeBron James was hit with a technical foul because he was vehemently arguing a call. This is not like LeBron to get out of control with a referee, but the Hawks were able to get to him. LeBron James also had 9 turnovers on the night, which is much higher than his season average.
The Atlanta Hawks had 6 players in double figures. Al Horford led the Hawks with 19 points, but Kyrie Irving led all scorers with 20 points. The Atlanta Hawks played together as a team on both defense and offense. The Hawks do not have a single player that everyone tries to frustrate, and in some regard that is the most frustrating part about the Hawks. The other team has no clue who to keep an eye on night in and night out because the Hawks have 7 or 8 different guys who can take a game over. On Friday, the Hawks as a team took over and just flat out outplayed the Cavs.
This game was more than likely a preview of the Eastern Conference finals because many NBA analysts, including myself, think that these two teams are the best teams in the East. The Cavaliers have been playing like they are the best team in the NBA, and the entire NBA community has been talking about them like they are. I personally think that the Cavs are the best team right now, but the Hawks made a statement. The Hawks came into the game of Friday looking to show everyone who the best team really is. I think that the Hawks are a team to be reckoned with in the East, but I still have the Cavaliers as my favorite to come out of the East.
