Arizona’s Mark Trumbo gets traded to struggling Mariners

during the MLB game at Chase Field on April 11, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Seattle Mariners made a big splash on Wednesday evening by trading for Diamondback slugger Mark Trumbo in a six player deal to try to revive their struggling offense.

The Mariners also got left handed pitcher Vidal Nuno, while the Diamondbacks got catcher Welington Castillo, right-handed reliever Dominic Leone, and minor leaguers Gabby Guerrero and Jack Reinheimer.

The Mariners pulled the trigger on this deal after a 3-1 loss against the New York Yankees on Wednesday afternoon where the offensive firepower was evidentially lacking. Seattle entered Wednesday as the worst offensive team in the majors, even though they entered the season as a favorite to win the American League.
