Wil Myers To Have Surgery On Wrist
The San Diego Padres made some huge offseason moves by trading for Matt Kemp and signing James Shields in hopes of taking over the National League West. The Padres are underproducing big time, as they are three games under .500. The Padres also just fired their manager Bud Black because of the lack of wins in the win column. To make things worse, the Padres now have an injury to one of their starting outfielders that will sideline him for a couple months.
Wil Myers is set to have surgery on his wrist to remove a bone spur. This surgery is going to set his season back at least two months, which could hinder the Padres offensive production. Myers has already missed 28 games this season with injuries.
The Padres offense is currently ranked 9th in the majors in team batting average. Myers is currently batting .277, which is third on the team, with five home runs and 19 RBI. The Padres have struggled recently, though, as they are 21st in team batting average in the past seven days.
